Getting the proper Medigap policy can be tough as you will be concerned about getting the right coverage for your situation. With all of the changes and the different policies it is a difficult decision to make when you change. Before switching from an old Medigap policy to a new one you should consider a few things:
You should know that you can carry two policies for a brief period of time as a part of the free look period, though you will be paying for both. If you don’t have any interest than it isn’t necessary, but for some this may be worth trying. Just make sure that anything specific that you bought your current Medigap policy for is covered by the new one before switching.
What you need to remember about your old Medigap policy is that once you cancel it then it is gone forever. You are guaranteed to be able to renew your Medigap policy forever, but once you cancel and switch the old one is gone forever. It is not a good idea to get caught without the proper coverage because you didn’t do enough work ahead of time.
